Visiting the Great Barrier Reef with little kids

Port Douglas is a great starting point for exploring the Great Barrier Reef, one of the world’s most stunning natural wonders. If you’re planning a family-friendly reef trip, there are several options available to you.

One popular option is the Quicksilver Outer Reef Cruise. This full-day tour departs from Port Douglas and takes you out to the Agincourt Reef, where you can snorkel, dive, or simply relax on the boat and take in the sights.

The tour includes a buffet lunch, underwater observatory tour, and semi-submersible ride, making it a great choice for families with children.

Another option is the Wavedancer Low Isles Reef Cruise. This tour takes you to the Low Isles, a protected coral cay located just off the coast of Port Douglas. Here, you can snorkel in the shallow lagoon or take a glass-bottom boat tour to see the stunning marine life up close. The tour also includes a guided beach walk and a buffet lunch.

For families with younger children, the Calypso Morning or Afternoon Half Day tour is a great choice.

This tour takes you to the Low Isles in about 30 minutes, where you can snorkel in the protected lagoon. The tour is shorter than some of the other options, making it a good choice for families with limited time or attention spans.

No matter which tour you choose, be sure to bring plenty of sunscreen, a hat, and a camera to capture the memories of your family-friendly reef adventure.
